This is the Ofna 16T vented clutch bell. It is made of durable hardened steel and has cooling vents to help keep the clutch running cooler. In addition, the vented design should help to keep clutch residue and wear particles out of the clutch bell housing. This 16T clutch bell gear is ideal for gearing up your Savage to increase top speed and also to match gearing to a higher power/torque upgrade engine. This kit also comes with 2 new 5x10mm ball bearings. Fresh ball bearings help ensure minimal friction and optimal performance when swapping clutch bells. For reference, the Savage RTR comes stock wtih at 14T clutch bell.
PLEASE NOTE: You might need to use a shim kit to get the correct clearance set on this clutch bell (or any other clutch bell). These clutch shim kits are usually very inexpensive and are simply an assortment of different size & thickness washers that can be used when fitting different clutch bells to an engine. If you take a clutch bell off from an engine, you will usually see a shim/washer installed behind the clutch bell at the factory. It is sandwiced between the clutch nut and the clutch bell inner bearing. The shims/washers are placed behind the clutch bell and help ensure that there is clearance between the clutch bell skirt and the flywheel, so that the clutch bell can spin freely with the clutch disengaged. An example of a typical kit is the Ofna Clutch Shim Kit OFN 10099. We now stock this shim kit at our store.
